Chairtable
Chairtable?
This is a fusion of traditional furniture archetypes – a blend of a table and a chair. This hybrid creates a new product that is aesthetically neither one nor the other. It’s non-binary, serving as a third option with the function of a side table, combining minimalism and experimentation. The design is both functional and sculptural, suitable for modern and classic settings.
The tabletop seamlessly integrates with the chair’s supposed backrest, blurring the lines between a table transforming into a chair or a chair aspiring to be a table. Ironically, the chair doesn’t serve for sitting; its seat functions as a supporting shelf for added functionality. Chairtable is a creative expression reconciling the rational with the emotional, uniting through a single piece of furniture.
Developed in collaboration between Furf Design Studio and Moveis James, it received the “Best in Show” award at the prestigious ABIMAD, Latin America’s largest furniture fair, marking a successful debut.
