With National Geographic, Furf Design Studio has created a collection that aims to increase children’s safety through a product that is full of symbologies and embraces diversity.

Inspired by Latin animals loved by the little ones: sloths, the jaguar, the golden lion tamarin and the llama, we create accessories for the car’s seat belt to encourage and make its use more playful. According to data from the World Health Organization, traffic accidents are the leading causes of accidental deaths of children in Latin America – and many of them could have been avoided with a simple ‘click’.

Click Family fits in the great majority of cars. The parents stay at the top of the seatbelt while the child is at the buckle (stability). It is the couple that goes to the child to offer protection, affection, and warmth. Noticing the shape of the parents, it is clear that something is missing, there is an empty space between them. With the union of both pieces, the family is complete! To represent equality, couples are represented in a fully mirrored way.

The top also doubles as an ergonomic handle to make it easier for the child to attach the belt. When fitted, the product conceals the big red release button only from the child’s point of view and thus prevents them from loosening it with the car in motion without their parents noticing.

The products are produced in durable and lightweight naval plywood with reforestation wood and chemical free inks. One of its main advantages is the lower impact on global warming, which refers to emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) to the atmosphere in its manufacturing process, which is up to thirty times less polluting then similar products produced in plastic ou fabric. The process links the industrial to the artisanal: a low technology product, local labor, and materials and high impact. In addition to encouraging the national economy, the child’s interaction with a sustainable product creates, early on, a greater environmental awareness.

As each family is unique, Click Family comes with a sticker pack for the child to customize and thus create a greater emotional bond with the product – after all, it is a representation of their own family, just the way it is. The mother and the father. Two moms. Two dads. A mother and a grandmother. A cub of another species. Why not? What is important is the protection that love provides.
